Chad Motes is a Florida native, born in St. Augustine during a hurricane. He grew up in Palatka, Putnam County, Florida. Chad was educated in public schools graduating high school in 1968.

Chad earned his Assoc. in Arts degree from St. Johns River Community College (1970). He graduated from Florida State University with a B.A. degree in 1972.

In 1975 Chad graduated from Florida State University College of Law with a Juris Doctor degree; admitted to the Florida Bar, October, 1975.

During the next three years Chad worked for the Florida Senate; Centennial Insurance Products in Nashville; and in private law practice, which he merged with a Jacksonville law firm.

In 1978 he accepted a position as assistant general counsel in the Florida Department of Labor and Employment Security, where he provided legal advice and representation to the department?;s state and federal labor programs, including the Division of Workers?; Compensation.

The firm of Henderson, Franklin, Starnes and Holt, Ft. Myers hired Chad in 1986 as a defense attorney in the firm?;s workers?; compensation department. During his time at that firm he was certified by the Florida Bar Board of Legal Specialization as a specialist in workers?; compensation. He was active as a certified instructor presenting continuing education seminars for the WCCP and for many clients.

In 2000 he formed a practice in Fort Myers, including defense, plaintiffs and mediation. This practice was merged into Vernis and Bowling Law Firm later in the same year.

Chad has now resumed his solo law practice in Fort Myers. He helps injured workers secure workers compensation lost wages, medical benefits and money settlements.
